Microclimate Design and Sustainable Landscape Planning

Webinar

Wednesday August 19 2026

The Kuwait Green Building Council (KGBC) hosted an online webinar on Microclimate Design and Sustainable Landscape Planning, exploring how climate-responsive design and landscape strategies can contribute to more comfortable, resilient, and sustainable outdoor environments in Kuwait.

The webinar featured Dr. Sarah AlAteeqi, Associate Research Scientist at the Kuwait Institute for Scientific Research (KISR), and Ramkrushna Parshuramkar, Senior CFD Consultant at Buro Happold. The speakers shared their expertise in sustainable landscape planning and microclimate analysis, including the role of Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) in understanding environmental conditions and informing design decisions.

The session also highlighted the Jaber Mall project as a case study, where the speakers worked on microclimate analysis and native plant selection. Through the case study, participants gained insight into how technical analysis and locally appropriate landscape strategies can be integrated into the design process to improve outdoor comfort and support broader sustainability goals.

The webinar concluded with an interactive discussion, giving participants the opportunity to ask questions and further explore how microclimate analysis, native planting, and climate-responsive landscape design can be applied within Kuwait’s unique environmental context.
