The Kuwait Green Building Council (KGBC), in collaboration with Alpin Limited, hosted an online webinar introducing BREEAM (Building Research Establishment Environmental Assessment Method) and its role in supporting more sustainable buildings and developments.
The session was led by Mohammad Hidayath Ali, Technical Delivery Lead at Alpin Limited, who provided participants with an overview of the BREEAM framework and how it can be applied across buildings, masterplans, and real estate assets.
Understanding BREEAM
BREEAM is an internationally recognized sustainability assessment methodology used to evaluate the environmental, social, and economic performance of the built environment. Through a structured assessment process, it encourages project teams to consider sustainability throughout the lifecycle of a development.
During the webinar, participants were introduced to the key principles behind the system and how sustainability considerations can be incorporated into the planning, design, construction, and operation of projects.
Applying BREEAM in Kuwait
A key focus of the discussion was the relevance of international sustainability frameworks within the Kuwaiti context. The session explored how BREEAM can provide a structured approach for developers, consultants, architects, engineers, and other built-environment professionals seeking to improve project performance and establish measurable sustainability objectives.
Building Knowledge Across the Industry
The session formed part of KGBC’s ongoing efforts to provide professionals in Kuwait with access to knowledge, tools, and international best practices that can support the transition toward a more sustainable built environment.
